Getting Started

We're excited to have you join our community, and we look forward to meeting you and your family!

To get started, we invite you to fill out a brief interest form. Then, a member of our team will reach out to you to discuss your goals and give you information about the next steps.

Admissions Process

Greater priority is given to families who complete the admissions process prior to December 31st of their child's 8th grade year. Doing so will maximize your ability to secure a seat, obtain financial aid, and receive merit awards.

The first step in our admissions process is to fill out a brief interest form. Then, a member of our team will reach out to you to discuss any questions you have and help you with the next steps.

Secondly, we encourage you to come visit us! All of our prospective students are required to attend one shadow day to get a feel for what life is like at Chesterton Academy. These can be attended with other prospective students on one of our group shadow days or scheduled individually anytime during the school year.

We also host a variety of events for parents and families including open houses, tours, Daily Mass, and more. Visit our admissions events page for more details.

Once you're ready to apply, you'll use our online admissions portal to submit your documentation. This will include:

  • Your application
  • Official 6-8 grade transcripts*
  • Three teacher recommendations including literature, math, and a subject of your choice
  • Financial questionnaire (and our financial need assessment tool if you are seeking financial aid)
  • Student questionnaire

*If your student is a transferring high school student, we will also request official transcripts from high school.

Every student has unique academic and behavioral needs. It is important for us to ensure we can meet those needs before admitting a student. Therefore, we employ a math and reading readiness assessment and require a written essay.

Once the majority of the admissions process is complete, we'll schedule a meeting with you, your student, and our headmaster, Dr. Matt Gerlach, to ensure we're the right fit for your family.

Additional Information

Chesterton Academy's cost per student is $14,500, but thanks to the generosity of donors, all students will receive an automatic scholarship of $5,150.

Therefore, our tuition rate for the 2024 - 2025 school year is $9,350. This tuition rate is one of the lowest in the Twin Cities. Our annual enrollment/re-enrollment fee is $500. Financial aid and merit awards are available.

Though we strive to keep tuition affordable, in order to keep up with rising costs, families can expect a modest increase of about 5% in our tuition rate each year.

We work hard to make our Catholic education affordable for as many families as possible. That's why we're proud to offer over one million dollars of automatic scholarship and financial aid to qualified families.

We also offer a variety of merit awards for incoming students who demonstrate excellence in academics, fine arts, or Catholic discipleship.

Greater priority is given to families who complete the admissions process prior to December 31st.

Our student body is made up of approximately 160 students, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 15:1. Chesterton Academy welcomes students who come from a variety of educational backgrounds including public, private, homeschool, and online environments. We're proud to have more than 60 zip codes and 50 parishes represented in our student body.
