Guests of All Ages Had a Ball at The Chesterton Gala!
Thank you to all who helped make The Chesterton Gala such a wonderful success! Over 600 guests joined on Saturday, April 13 at the Crowne-Plaza Hotel in St. Paul for our fourth annual evening of music and merriment to benefit the students of Chesterton Academy. Our first-ever "Think Local, Shop Local" silent auction was a hit with guests and featured hand-selected items from the very best artists, boutiques and restaurants in town. Glen Lewerenz of Relevant Radio fame was our honored Gala Emcee and our dinner program featured music by the Chesterton Academy All School Choir and our Chamber Choir. Chesterton Academy seniors Ann Balster and Henning Rotstein received standing ovations for their student speeches. Dale Ahlquist delivered closing remarks and was assisted by the Chesterton Academy barbershop quartet, who sang a command performance of our special version of "For the Longest Time."
After our dinner program, we danced the night away to the music of The Fabulous Chestertones, back by popular demand!
The highlight of the evening was the surprise announcement of a $125,000 matching grant challenge for Chesterton Academy - the largest fundraising initiative in the history of the school. Andrew Redleaf, founder and CEO of Whitebox Advisors, has renewed his Challenge for Chesterton Academy for a fourth consecutive year, and an anonymous benefactor joined Redleaf to increase the challenge grant. Together, they will match up to $125,000 in donations to Chesterton Academy.
We are extraordinarily grateful to the many Chesterton parents and volunteers who worked so hard to make the event such a wonderful success. Our sincere thanks, as well, to the many donors and event sponsors who helped us raise critical funds as we prepare for continued growth in the 2013-14 academic year!
