Chesterton Senior, Rosemary Edwards, receives full-ride scholarship to the University of St. Thomas

Chesterton Academy senior, Rosemary Edwards, was one of only ten applicants to be awarded the highly competitive Schulze Scholarship from the University of St. Thomas this year.

The Schulze Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship and premier academic program designed to nurture a student’s entrepreneurial ability and to help them launch successful careers.

The program involves mentorship, hands-on learning, and unique opportunities for networking and internships. Furthermore, if students decide to launch a startup after graduation, recipients have opportunities to meet with business advisors and to receive capital.

The scholarship’s eligibility requirements include having a 3.5 GPA or greater, majoring in entrepreneurship, and demonstrating entrepreneurial creativity and inventiveness through an essay and letter of reference. Finalists also met with faculty on campus for “scholarship day” to demonstrate their aspirations, character, and why the scholarship would make a difference.

“Hearing the news that I was awarded the Scholarship was overwhelmingly and exciting,” Edwards said. “Overall, I just feel incredibly blessed and grateful knowing that it will be the perfect place for me.”

Edwards’ time at Chesterton Academy is quickly coming to a close, but she remarked on her gratitude for her time at the school. “Chesterton has prepared me for my post-secondary education because it has taught me to integrate my faith into everything I do in life,” Edwards said. “There is something so special about being in a room with people who all hold the same beliefs and truths to be true. No place has made me feel so welcomed in my faith. The community is what I will miss most about the school.”
